What to know before using NUTRIMI.

What is NUTRIMI?

NUTRIMI is a software ecosystem consisting of an Android app for people and a web portal for verified healthcare professionals. The app records food, water, weight, activity and other data chosen by the person. The portal builds versioned plans, questionnaires and appointments using only patient-authorised categories.

How many recipes does NUTRIMI contain?

The complete downloadable database contains 520,297 recipes. The public catalogue index provides 26 download choices: the complete database and 25 themed packages. Themed packages are subsets, so their counts must not be added to the complete-database total.

Does NUTRIMI replace a dietitian, nutritionist or doctor?

No. NUTRIMI organises data, performs declared calculations and prepares material. It does not diagnose or autonomously publish a clinical plan. Assessment, prescription, review and follow-up remain the healthcare professional's responsibility.

What is a digital food diary and what is it for?

It is a time-ordered record of foods, amounts and meal context. It can help a person and professional reconstruct habits, regularity and change. It is not, by itself, a diagnosis or prescription. WHO describes adequacy, balance, moderation and diversity as core principles of a healthy diet; a single number does not describe a complete pathway.

Does artificial intelligence decide calories, diagnosis or treatment?

No. NUTRIMI separates deterministic calculations from generative functions. AI may recognise parts of a meal, suggest a draft or explain a result, but estimates require checking and clinical material requires professional review before publication.

How are nutrition requirements determined?

NUTRIMI uses deterministic formulas and actual profile data, not a free-form AI answer. For a singleton pregnancy, when the due date, pre-pregnancy weight and safety conditions permit calculation, it determines gestational week and trimester and calculates kcal, the energy increment, protein, carbohydrate and fat. During breastfeeding it distinguishes the first six months, the second six months and extended breastfeeding, accounts for feeding mode, age, height, weight and activity, and calculates energy and macronutrients.

Selected diseases and conditions are not ignored: they activate targets and warnings appropriate to the context. These include coeliac disease, IBS, Crohn's disease or colitis, reflux or gastritis, diverticulitis, hypertension, dyslipidaemia, diabetes or insulin resistance, kidney disease, fatty liver disease, gout and phenylketonuria. Depending on the condition, the software monitors or limits salt, sugar, saturated fat, fibre, potassium, phosphorus, purines, phenylalanine and protein; kidney and bowel pathways also distinguish dialysis from pre-dialysis and acute disease from remission.

The rules link to published references, including LARN V/SINU, DRI/NASEM, the Italian Ministry of Health, ISS/SNLG and condition-specific guidelines. The complete public source catalogue lists the references cited by the software and opens the original documents. When indispensable data or a sufficiently documented rule is missing, the automatic calculation is withheld instead of inventing a value.

What data can a connected professional see?

Only categories authorised by the person, such as identity, profile and restrictions, nutrition diary or weight. Permissions are separate and revocable. The European Commission lists access, correction, erasure and portability among GDPR rights; NUTRIMI provides data export and account deletion.

How does a professional access the portal?

They create an account, verify their email and submit professional details. NUTRIMI manually checks the declared registration before enabling access. Even after approval, patient data remains unavailable until the patient links the professional and grants individual permissions.
